SASSA pays grants in the first 3 working days of each month. The Old Age Grant pays first (usually the 2nd), then Disability (usually the 3rd), then Children's grants (usually the 4th). Dates shift when the standard date falls on a weekend, Monday, or public holiday.

From April 2026, the Older Persons Grant increased by R80 to R2,400 per month. This applies to recipients aged 60 and older. The War Veterans Grant increased to R2,420. Increases were announced in the National Budget Speech in February 2026.

Do not panic. Your money stays safely in your account — you do not need to collect it on the exact payment day. If your grant has not reflected after 2 working days, call SASSA on 0800 60 10 11 (free call) or visit your nearest SASSA office with your SA ID.

Yes — applying for any SASSA grant is completely free of charge. You should never pay anyone to apply on your behalf. If someone asks you for money to process your application or speed up your payment, it is a scam. Report it to SASSA immediately.

From April 2026, the Child Support Grant increased by R20 to R580 per child per month. Caregivers of orphaned children receive a top-up, bringing the total to R830 per child. You can claim for up to 6 non-biological or adopted children.
