Think of 4 name options

Your name must be unique. Go to bizportal.gov.za to check availability. Names with <4 characters are not allowed.

Reserve your business name — R50

Pay R50 at cipc.co.za or bizportal.gov.za. The reservation lasts 6 months.

Gather your documents

SA ID (certified copy), proof of residential address (utility bill ≤3 months), and the same for each director.

Complete CoR14.1 form (MOI)

The Memorandum of Incorporation can be standard (free download from CIPC website) or customised.

Register online and pay R125

Submit everything at bizportal.gov.za. Processing takes 3–10 business days. You'll receive a registration certificate by email.

Receive SARS tax number

CIPC automatically notifies SARS. You'll receive a company tax number within 5–10 days of CIPC approval.

Open a business bank account

You'll need your CIPC certificate, company tax number, and personal ID. FNB Business Zero and Capitec Business are free to open.
